Quick Slang - Talking about being excited!

17

Hey guys, I'm Alex. Thanks for clicking and welcome to this lesson on talking about getting

excited. So this is a quick slang lesson and we're going to learn two words to talk about

getting excited. If you're tired about just saying, "I'm excited about this. I'm excited

to do this." I'm going to give you two words that are going to help you out and increase

your vocabulary in informal situations. Those two words are pumped and psyched. Psyched.

Very focused. So instead of saying excited, you can use these two words. You can be pumped

for something or you can be psyched for something. So imagine that you're going to a party. You

can say, "I'm pumped for the party. I am pumped." Very excited. "I'm psyched about the party.

I am so psyched about the party or for the party." "I'm pumped to go to the party. I'm

psyched about going to the party." So you have one, two, three, four different ways

that you can use pumped and psyched. For one, you can follow them with an infinitive. So

here, "I'm pumped" or "I'm psyched to go to the party." You can follow them with four

plus a noun. So for example, "I'm pumped for the party." "I'm psyched for the party." You

can also follow them with "about" plus a gerund or a noun. So let's look at the gerund, "I'm

psyched about going to the party." Now, if you want to increase your excitement, if you

want to emphasize how psyched you are, how pumped you are, it can help to add some adverbs.

Now I know you know the adverbs like "very" and "really." Like, "I'm really excited."

"I'm very excited." You can say, "I'm very psyched." "I'm really psyched." "I'm really

pumped." "I'm very pumped." Another one that you can use and that we use all the time really

is "so," "really," or "completely." So, "I'm really pumped." "I'm totally psyched." "I'm

completely pumped about going." Okay? So guys, if you want to test your understanding of
